911 Calls – Psalm 91:1 and I John 5:11-12

Do you remember where you were on September 11, 2001? I was enjoying my daily walk where I could experience the dawning of a new day. Stopping at the small lake in the park near my home, I prayed about life’s frustrations knowing that God listened. Upon my return home, I clicked on the TV. To my astonishment and dismay, there were reports of tremendous fires raging in New York. What could have happened? News crews scrambled for facts.

Frantic calls to 911 were made from those inside the buildings proclaiming the hopelessness of no escape and certain death. From the planes, calls were made. Everyone knows when you make a 911 call that HELP is on the way. No one could help those in the planes or burning buildings that day. Did the 911 calls mean nothing? What about our desperate prayers? Had they gone unheard? All were transfixed on the TV for any glimpse of hope.

Days later, the nation learned many died on that tragic day. Eternal life was waiting for all who believe the Bible. “And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.” I John 5:11-12

Heaven is real! In Revelation 21, we read about a glorious Heaven beyond belief with streets of gold where there are no more tears, pain, mourning or death. We dial 911 upon realizing that we cannot save ourselves from immediate danger. No one calls 911 unless the situation is hopeless without aid from a rescue worker. Firemen save lives by rescuing people from blazing fires. God saves lost souls from a death that will result in eternal separation from God.

God has a 911 number, Psalm 91:1. “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”

God is waiting and ready for calls. He will answer. Lives are changed forever once the 911 call is made to God.
